ABOUT

What is an Edible City? How can we live in a city and eat healthy, sustainable, local food?

That’s the question we started out with in 2008, when we began a documentary project called Edible City. For three years we followed farmers, organizers, activists and policy-makers in the good food movement around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Edible City the documentary is currently in post-production, and will be released on this site in early 2012. But the food movement continues to grow, like any well-tended garden does, with new ideas and organizations are sprouting up all the time, across the country and around the world. No single film can give a comprehensive picture of the incredible changes that are happening before our eyes. So we decided to create this website to share the our work, and the great work of others that we’ve encountered along the way.

So dig in, get inspired, and share your projects and ideas with the world!

Many other films have since been released that address both the problems of and solutions to our current food system.

The Ediblecity.net Resources are videos from around the internet, organized as a simple journey through the ideas and steps necessary to create a local food system. The main ingredients: Education, Production, Processing, Distribution, Policy, People and Places. There’s also a map of all the good food organizations that are working for food justice, sovereignty and sustainability (currently the map is only focused on the SF Bay Area.)
